How Your Contribution Can Help
State of the Art 3-D Scanning System - Leica GeoSystems Scan Station C10 Needed - $186K
What is it?
The Leica Geosystems Scan Station C10 is a versatile and easy-to-use 3D laser scanning system which enables users to panoramically photograph and then laser scan (measure) a scene with an extraordinary level of speed, accuracy and completeness. It completely digitizes the scene in 3D for future reference, measurements and analysis.
Why is it important?
The scanning machine drastically reduces the number of man-hours needed to diagram a crime scene and extract key evidence. It can also verify what witnesses could or couldn’t see and provides a line of sight and crime scene witness viewpoints as well as bullet trajectory analysis. In the courtroom, Leica Geosystems' laser scanning data allows prosecutors to place the jury at the scene.
How has it been used recently?
The Leica scanner assisted Bay area law enforcement to map the crime scene for a murder investigation. See how this high tech, state of the art system can help catch a killer.
Additionally, the laser scanner has been used:
(1) To help investigators diagram the crime scene after a shooter at a Portland mall went on a shooting rampage and
(2) Used to recreate the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas.
