2023 Craig Hanaumi Service Award Winner

Officer Craig Hanaumi, in uniform, stands solemnly in front of an American flag, proudly displaying his 2023 Service Award.

Every year, the Bellevue Police Foundation Board of Directors honors a Bellevue police officer who has demonstrated a pattern of professional achievement, personal commitment, strong community service and contribution to public safety.

This year the Foundation honored Sergeant Benjamin (BJ) Buck who has demonstrated these qualities.

Sergeant Buck is the supervisor of the Special Operations Group who investigate, locate and arrest some of the most prolific criminals in Bellevue. He is also a highly trained member of the bomb squad, who provide support throughout the region when needed. He is a supervisor of the regional Honor Guard, and also volunteers for Behind the Badge, an organization that provides essential support to families of fallen officers.  This year, his work has been especially difficult, as he was called to support the family of his dear friend and fellow Bellevue officer who fell in the line of duty, Officer Jordan Jackson.

Sergeant Buck, thank you for all that you do every day to build community and keep us all safe!
