Officer Oscar Rodriguez

OFFICER OSCAR RODRIGUEZ

Officer Rodriguez has a unique and meaningful connection with the community, particularly in District Four, where he has become a de facto liaison between several community groups and the Bellevue Police Department. His genuine care for those he serves and his ability to build authentic relationships have led to frequent requests for him by name to attend community events. Whether speaking at an event for Youth Eastside Services, participating in Coffee with a Cop, attending an award ceremony for students at Overlake Specialty School, or presenting at the Community Academy, Officer Rodriguez consistently seeks opportunities to engage with and support the community. During a previous BPD Foundation Breakfast, he made such a strong impression on a Bellevue City Councilmember that the Councilmember specifically requested a ride-along with him.

In his current role with the Community Crisis Assistance Team (CCAT), Officer Rodriguez is a dedicated advocate for some of the most vulnerable members of our community. He routinely goes above and beyond in service to CCAT clients and has received consistent praise from his mental health professional partners for his patience, compassion, and professionalism. In his first full year with the unit in 2025, he was voted CCAT Officer of the Year by his peers and was also the recipient of the Officer Jordan Jackson Exceptional Individual Award. Officer Rodriguez is equally respected within the department. He is trusted and relied upon by his fellow officers and is someone supervisors frequently tum to when a task needs to be done correctly and professionally. In addition to his regular CCAT duties, he actively participates in firearms training, serves as an instructor with Seattle Police Department’s bicycle school, and is a member of the BPD Honor Guard. He accomplishes all of this with a consistently positive attitude and without complaint.

Officer Oscar Rodriguez exemplifies professional achievement, personal commitment, strong community service, and a deep contribution to public safety. He is highly deserving of the Craig Hanaumi Service Award.
