Bellevue Police Foundation Aims to Raise $6,500 to Support Kids in Need in time for Heroes and Helpers in December

The Bellevue Police Foundation has partnered with Bellevue Police and Target to launch “Heroes and Helpers”, a remarkable community initiative aimed at supporting children in need, including those facing homelessness. This year, we plan to serve up to 65 children, over half of whom are living in the Bellevue Safe Parking lot. Formerly known as Shop with a Cop, Heroes and Helpers pairs children with local police officers who serve as mentors and friends, taking them on a special shopping trip at Target for essentials like winter clothes, school supplies, and holiday gifts. For these children, many of whom are in difficult life situations, the kindness and guidance provided by officers is invaluable.

This program is a unique opportunity for young people to see law enforcement in a positive light, forming bonds of trust and understanding that extend beyond the shopping event. For the police officers involved, it’s a chance to give back to the community in a meaningful way, building relationships that strengthen community trust. Through Heroes and Helpers, the Bellevue Police Foundation shines as a beacon of support and connection, showing how small acts can have lasting impacts on young lives.

We thank Target Corporation for their generous donation to the event, but their contribution only covers part of the funding needed.
