(Reprinted from BPD News Release)
Roc, a Bellevue Police K-9, is credited with collaring a suspected burglar this morning. At approximately 4:56 a.m., Bellevue Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 5400 block of 123rd Avenue Southeast. The homeowner at that location called 911 to report two unknown suspects in their garage.
Bellevue Police responded with several units, including Roc and his handler, Officer Brad Knudtsen. Officer Knudtsen and Roc were able to track one of the suspects to the 12100 block of Southeast 60th Street. The suspect was hiding in some bushes and refused to come out when ordered.
Roc was sent in to apprehend the suspect. The suspect, a 25-year-old Bellevue man, was treated for a dog bite and he later admitted to having committed 12 different motor vehicle prowls in the area overnight. The suspect was booked into the King County Jail.
Roc and Officer Bradley Knudtsen are the senior team in the Bellevue Police’s K-9 unit. Roc is trained in tracking, criminal apprehension and narcotics detection. Roc was the first Bellevue Police dog purchased by the Bellevue Police Foundation.
