Police Youth Camp is Back!
In 2023, Bellevue Police Foundation was proud to provide funding for the first Bellevue Police Youth Camp which hosted 33 youth aged 12 – 14 for three days of exciting hands-on learning, interactive demonstrations, team-building and much more. Youth Camp is back this year, even better.
The 2024 Police Youth Camp has expanded to include two sessions so that older students can get involved. Middle school Camp is from July 31 – August 1st, and High school Camp is August 7 & 8.
Police Chief Wendell Shirley believes Youth Camp has many benefits for kids beyond learning about the intricacies of police work. Chief Shirley says, “the Youth Camp will engage your young person in positive and fun activities while incorporating educational and character-building components. They will receive experience in conflict resolution, decision-making, teamwork, communication skills, and personal safety. These skills are valuable in everyday life situations, empowering young people to make responsible choices and become productive community members.”
