Scholarships

On August 20^th, Retired Chief Linda Pillo presented the Women in Leadership Scholarship award to Corporal Ashley Saunders. Corporal Saunders, a lateral hire from the Edmonds Police Department who joined Bellevue in October 2022 exhibits all the qualities one wants in a leader.

In addition to serving as a Field Training Officer, she has spearheaded various training initiatives including the body-worn camera program, virtual reality training, and digital evidence management. As a certified Patrol Tactics Instructor, she has helped develop a new Patrol Tactics training program required by a Washington State law passed in 2019. Notably, she recently passed the test for a Corporal position, showing her readiness to provide guidance and mentorship to probationary officers in the Patrol division.
