Foundation Funds Cutting-Edge Vehicle Forensic Technology for Bellevue Police
The Bellevue Police Foundation has awarded a $19,000 grant to the Bellevue Police Department to purchase the Berla iVe Vehicle Infotainment Forensic Kit, a state-of-the-art investigative tool that is one of the only systems of its kind in Washington State.
The Berla iVe system allows trained forensic examiners to extract and analyze digital evidence stored in vehicle infotainment and telematics systems—data that can include GPS locations, call logs, text messages, and connected device information. This information can be crucial in solving major crimes such as vehicle theft, hit-and-run collisions, and even violent offenses where a suspect or victim’s movements are key to the investigation.
Because few law enforcement agencies in the state currently have access to this advanced technology, the Bellevue Police Department will be able to assist regional partners and provide specialized forensic support for complex investigations across King County and beyond.
By funding this $19,000 forensic system, the Foundation ensures Bellevue Police remain leaders in innovation and collaboration. This investment strengthens public safety not only in Bellevue, but across our entire region.
