Foundation Receives Special Mention During Re-accreditation

The emblem of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) features an eagle and laurel wreath design, symbolizing excellence and re-accreditation.

The Bellevue Police Department was recently re-accredited with the Commission on Accreditation by Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Special mention was made to the Bellevue Police Foundation. Here is an excerpt.

“The Bellevue Police Department was flush with innovation, talent, desire and the tools
that allow the agency to serve at the highest levels of public service. One such example
of the innovation is in how the organization has forged support through partnerships
with the community itself. The Bellevue Police Foundation has existed since 2009 with
the “sole purpose of fostering public support of the police professionals whose
dedication and personal sacrifice secures the stability that is critical to the economic
and social vibrancy of the community”. The Foundation has provided funds to purchase
technology such as a digital forensics server, a thermal fingerprint developer, night
vision goggles for the SWAT Team, a hostage throw-phone, crime analysis training and
software, two police K-9’s, and much more, just in this assessment period.”
