Bellevue Police Foundation Hosts 10th Annual Breakfast – March 2019

The Bellevue Police Foundation hosted its 10th Annual Bold for the Blue Breakfast March 15, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. The breakfast was attended by nearly 250 guests who had the opportunity to meet and mingle with Bellevue police officers before and after the breakfast. A range of police equipment was on display including a motorcycle, special bikes used by the bike patrol, bomb detection equipment. In addition, breakfast guests had the opportunity to meet our K-9 (canine) officers and their human partners.

During the breakfast we went “On the Scene with Smith and Keene” to learn about a day in the life of two members of Bellevue’s SWAT team. The audience was introduced to their families and got a glimpse into the officers’ lives outside of work. Police officers like Andy and Jim are dedicated to helping the Bellevue Police Department to “Reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime, and enhance the quality of life for those who live and work in Bellevue.”

The Foundation awarded its annual service award to Craig Hanaumi and renamed the award in Officer Hanaumi’s name in recognition of the strong service example he sets for all members of the department.

Through the generosity of donors and corporate partners over $167,000 was raised by this year’s breakfast to support the purchase of training and specialized equipment that the city cannot readily fund. The Police Foundation Board of Directors will meet in May to review grant requests from the Police Department and make grant awards.
