A National Night of Fun and Relationships

During the National Night event, children enjoy a fun ball-toss game under a tent in the park, fostering friendships and community relationships.

On August 6th, over 700 people came out to the Crossroads Park to join Bellevue Police Officers and staff in playing fun games, dancing to great music, enjoying free ice cream and other snacks. Nationally in its 40th year, this year’s National Night Out took the event to a new level for Bellevue residents. Click on this link to view the video!

For a little history, National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984 through a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. National Night Out grew to become a celebration beyond just front porch vigils and symbolic efforts amongst neighbors to send a message of neighborhood camaraderie. Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
